SOUTHERN REFLECTIONS o/c 28 x 32

We discovered this egret in a salt water marsh on the southeastern seaboard. He was foraging alone, as they prefer to do, in a private world of light, water and reflections. Close to extinction at one time, these birds have made a come back and are now common.
They demonstrate great patience as they pause and move forward with measured steps hunting for small fish. Notice the yellow bill and black legs, with long toes, which help them to balance as they move through soft mud.
