As twilight deepens toward evening in the everglades, a great blue
heron, in the white form, appears ghost-like in the reeds. He reminded
us that unseen lives go on in the darkness. This great bird is locally
common in the salt water in south Florida. It is one of the three
largest herons in the world.

We always enjoy Royal Palm Visitor Center when we go to Florida. This
time it was especially busy during the day but as twilight came upon us
we were able to view so much more of the secrets of the salt water
swamp.
